"I know they think that it took somebody else
To make me beautiful, beautiful
As they intended me to be
But they're wrong
I know they think that it took thousands of people
To put me together again like an experiment
Some big man behind the scenes
So I am Frankenstein, black dreams into my song
But they're wrong" [First added to this chart: 03/24/2024]

Top 68 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 9% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.0/100, a mean average of 87.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.7.

Don't take it badly but I don't enjoy charts where (as of today) all your albums but three on your top 10 are ranked as #1 on that year and all your albums but three on your top 20 are ranked #1 or #2 on their year. Yes, each one in it's genre, they are mostly great albums or became hot on the media, that's why they are ranked so high over here, but I don't need your chart to know that. I want charts with personality where some great albums are ranked high according to the person's likes plus you find a few not as well known albums this person likes which you want to try. That's my opinion of course.

Thanks for your reply. If that's what you feel then fine :) You have many other charts so I am sure that you have heard enough albums to decide that those are really the ones you like and not ones the media influenced you to. I still won't enjoy going through it though ;) but I hope that it proves useful to others.

Great Chart I really enjoy the top ten. Funeral is also in my list not number one though but I do respect anyone who has it as their number one.
