Top 50 Greatest Music Albums
by hachedoso Unknown

I listen to lots of music. I don't claim to posses any kind of superior musical taste, actually most of the music I put here can be found in the top 100 of any decade. Just enjoy yourself if you find anything interesting :) love <3

My favourite album since I'm 13 (six years ago). Every song sounds different while mantaining a cohesive atmosphere. Every song is interesting for different reasons. While "fitter happier" is kind of a real fuck up IMO, I think that radiohead managed to put together such an incredible amount of genius that it doesn't even matter. Kind of like the clocks in The Dark Side Of The Moon. [First added to this chart: 07/31/2013]

Like classical music while the wolrd is dying. I like to think is album is just a big metaphore about death, kind of makes sense to me. A whole lot of emotion and musical mastery and such an ethereal atmosphere.

Not really the best album to listen if you can't pay full attention to it tho.

The second best album of the best band ever. The atmosphere is really offputting at first or at least it was for me. Its just so innovating that it feels out of place. There's a lot of energy and innovation and interesting melodies in this album. [First added to this chart: 07/31/2013]

Most interesting artist since Bowie IMO. Everything he makes is pure gold since good kid mAAd city. This is one of like 5 albums that i can enjoy by only paying attention to the music and not caring about what every song is trying to communicate. It's so incredibly well crafted. But not only that, Kendrick Lamars lyrics are comparable to Bob Dylan quality wise. Also the whole concept of the album makes it an even better experience. One proof that there's still amazing music to be made. [First added to this chart: 02/18/2019]

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.5/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.5.

I really like the way your chart is shaping up and your personable demeanor; to be honest I've seen people with charts way more skewed to a particular era who are way less conscious of that bias. Your chart has got a pretty neat mix if you ask me!

Seeing as you say you need to pay more attention to the oldies I'll give you a few alterenative rock/art rock picks that aren't on my overall chart:

Dinosaur Jr - You're Living All Over Me (1987)
Galaxie 500 - On Fire (1989)
Milton Nascimento/Lo Borges - Clube Da Esquina (1972)
Nico - Chelsea Girl (1967)
Wire - Pink Flag (1977)

... though I've noticed that yours is one of the ten charts most similar to mine so I'd recommend giving my overall a quick glance (it's v short) since I think we've got pretty similar tastes!

Pretty chart, Godspeed and Disintegration struck me as great choices. Descriptions are simple and short, right on the money. Probably too much Radiohead but I'm already used to seeing this heh :)

We have similar tastes, I'd guess that I'm somewhat older, but I still buy current records. Its nice to find someone who has taken time to add comments with their chart. I'll have a listen to your choices that I don't know, I already own well over half of them. Cheers
