Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by krsasse

I grew up in the boring Midwest and all I knew was Casey Kasem's Top 40 countdown. Every week I'd hear, "well that was great tune by xyz; but, back in the 60's you wouldn't believe what the Beatles did." Not particularly liking the Beatles at the time but also being admittedly a total dummy on them, I took it upon myself to learn about them in college - ultimately realizing their brilliance and contribution. After them I went onto classic rock which there is just so much of and there is no more. By 1991 I was dying for something new and got it with the explosion of alternative rock. It was through this that I learned that I love a wide range of music but my heart was in punk.

This inspired me to become part of the local music scene upon moving to the West Coast where I supported and recorded bands, had them play at my house and even toured as a roadie for a local band. At this stage, everything I listened to was so far beneath the mainstream surface that little of it would appear here.

My chart is quite eclectic and yes I can listen to Lucinda Williams, Rancid, Trashcan Sinatras, and Social Distortion all in one afternoon. My chart is missing a bunch of stuff I plan to add later when I'm allowed to add artists and albums.

Despite starting on the Beatles, my favorite band is probably REM. My favorite band of late is Ike Reilly who is completely absent from this database and I intend to fix that as he is a perfect mix of Rolling Stones, Petty, Dylan, Beatles, and Bruce.

As the Dead Milkmen sing in "Punk Rock Girl:" "If your store doesn't have Mojo Nixon, it could use some fixin'." Too true.

Nice mix, and not a bad album on here as far as the ones I've heard. I've not yet listened to "God Fodder" but the album art alone has got me wanting to.
