Transcended their earlier sound of blending black metal tropes with doom metal, neofolk, and some nifty ideas we'd come to know as the foundation of post-metal

My favorite power metal album where angra evolves the brazillian speed/power sound with amazing precision and soaring melodies -- pinnacle of the genre nothing is as good as this
[First added to this chart: 06/02/2023]
Dave's collection of his best songs at perhaps not his angriest but still pretty angry, "Tornado of Souls" is transcendent, showing the world that yes he was better than metallica even if the sales didnt quite echo the sentiment

Whats interesting is slayer is my favorite thrash metal band (save for testament but testament are kings of inconsistency) and instead of playing faster they decided to go into this strange atmospheric thrash metal direction that nobody else since has quite tried to do

The last dream theater album kevin moore had a hand in and probably the one he had a hand in the most. this is dream theater at their most restrained, opting for a keyboard-led atmosphere over metallica-meets-fateswarning wankfest.

Maiden's best harmonies and melodies behind some of their most iconic riffs, my personal favorite among the best three records by them

The most unique, crushing, and fun of the original sludge bands. combines swampy CCR feel with grimy Sabbath-like atmosphere.

Love it! It's so different from my top 100. Kinda refreshing.
Love that one thing we do have in common is the greatness of Priest! Not only both of us have 4 albums by them here, but also THE SAME 4! ;-)
