"Weird Al" YankovicUnited States "Weird Al" Yankovic
The first comedic music i remembered hearing was on my portable am/fm radio. The dr. demento show played a variety of comedy music and parodies, etc. including "grandma got run over by a reindeer" come christmas time. Some of it was quite hilarious (and weird), including from this guy.

When rap began, it was unlike most music that came before it...for those that considered it music.

Licensed To IllUnited States Beastie Boys
White music performers have been stealing from the black community since (at least) Elvis. Rap previously was ghetto noise for black people, but the beastie boys with their strange, funky personalities brought it to the white boy suburbs which probably freaked many a parent out.

HackUnited States Information Society
The album is heavy on samples, aided by digital sequencing on a Mac, and in some ways can be called one of the earliest mashups as their are a lot of samples from various sources meshing the backing music together, with inspiration from Kraftwerk, William Gibson's "Neuromancer" and Star Trek (among other sources).

Of The Heart, Of The Soul And Of The Cross: The Utopian ExperienceUnited States P.M. Dawn
I see philosophy as an interpretation of existence/reality. What sets p.m. dawn apart from other introspective or philosophical rappers is that his lyrics seem to emanate from his own personal universe, pondering existence, the future and the essence of love.

ExperienceUnited Kingdom The Prodigy
Named after the Moog Prodigy synthesizer, the main guy behind prodigy was a trained classical pianist, but you wouldn't know it from the music he creates, pretty weird and blippy synth-based techno, a genre which was just beginning to coalesce in the early 90s.
