Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

We have no albums in common & only one artist in common - I really like charts like this - they get me out of my musical safety zone & remind me that there is so much more to explore.

I really could not imagine seeing a chart like this one!
It is completely (well, almost completely) unlike anything else I have seen here or anywhere else. There are similarities with Scaruffi, but I should not make too much of that because quite a number of my own best albums were largely or entirely discovered via that very source.
The range of albums is quite wide — even if many would probably not appeal to me — and there are a lot of vey unfamiliar selections which I always like to see. All in all this is one of the best charts I have seen here.

I have no ides what some of this stuff is and I feel like I would not really like some of it, but I really love this chart- I like the broad tastes, ages, styles and the words. Great.

Sorry I took a long time to realize that I hadn't posted on this chart (what a shame past Antonio).. Anyway How I said it's amazing, so much things to discover here and the diversity that You put here is fantastic,Like...I still need to listen to Popol Vuh... someday, I also loved the notes (descriptions?) for each album, Some more emtive than others, and some more funny, anyway they are great to spend some time reading or just discover how you love these albums, some one different of the others, but all tied together,amazing chart Nech
