Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. The chart was taken from a photo of Kurt's diary, apparently he used to do a lot of this charts with albums coming and going and this one was the last one done before he passed. Examples of bands that I would've expected to see and aren't are Melvins and Meat Puppets. I don't know about REM but he and Stipe were friends and their influence in 90s music is undeniable. As for The Beatles, I read once that before performing live, Kurt used to pick an acoustic guitar and play "Julia" ebery time. Thxs for the comments and ratings btw...

Love the idea. I did however think he really LOVED Beatles, that Black Sabbath were one of the main influences and that REM was also one of his favs. Not according to this, anyone has any idea why? Or am I wrong?
