Lets Double Up (Or a triple just in case)
by

It has never been clear to me why is it that record companies authorize artists to create double albums.
It is double the cost and probably half as profitable than a regular LP and in most cases the projects are so ambitious and personal that become completeley unmarketable. 99% of the time listeners complain about an excess of filler songs or the albums simply been too long and yet...
Most of this albums rank among the best in their artists discography precisely because they are complex and personal and challenging and in some cases blatanly gibberish (yes I'm looking at you Mr. Van Villet (RIP). I don't presume to say these are the best double LPs ever conceived but they all have had a strong impact in me either sonically or emotionally so lets see how it works.
The only rule for this chart is that every album was originally conceived as a double LP (or more if necessary) by the artist when recording it, that despite the fact that some of these albums can perfectly fit on a single CD and most of them were when released in that format (And that is without considering the fact than most of these are now listened through a computer)...
