Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 66.7/100, a mean average of 65.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 65.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 26.7.

Been my favorite fucking band for 7 years now, probably will always be my favorite.
Great rock band, very underrated
I want this band to reunite, I'm new to them.
The first album really sounded pretty good.
I can barley listen to them anymore, If they come on I don't acknowledge it because I've played them out so much my ears are just use to the noises. This band changed my life. They got me into music. But I burned them out quickly. But I love em.
I'm sure you all hate MCR and you love to hate them, but they're really not that bad. The Black Parade was actually a really good album with some great songs on it. Yeah maybe their fanbase is a little annoying, but so what? You're listening to the band, not the fans.
This comment is beneath your viewing threshold.
Wonderful band. Even if I don't enjoy their later work, I understand a lot of other people do.
If you are able to get your self-absorbed narcissistic head out of your ass, and ignore something as trivial as the goddamn image of MCR's fanbase, you'd find a fantastic band with a rather unique sound. Saying the band is shit because of an overall immature fanbase paints a picture of yourself that cares more about image than the impact the music has on you. But that is a rant for another day.
MCR's first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love", is a fairly good album considering it's their first. No, it's not one to listen to if you have 189458096983 other albums to listen to, but if you don't, then perhaps give this album a shot.
Unlike their first album, their second, "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge", may be what ultimately brought them out of the underground scene. Each song differs from the next to keep it interesting, yet is coherent enough a sound. It's rawness (minimal ornamentation) with straightforward lyrics presented in a unique manner turns me on. It's a rather gritty album with a heavy soaring sound. This is also my favorite album from them for those reasons.
Their third album, and their most famous one, is a bit more abstract and thematic, with many variations in techniques and sound. "The Black Parade"'s overall sound differs from MCR's earlier albums, yet isn't necessarily better or worse. It manifests dark undertones in a rather sadistic cynical sound. To me, it's great emotional venting jams.
Their fourth album, "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys", is more of an artistic piece than anything. It tells a futuristic post-apocalyptic story in empowering rock anthems and heavy sound. MCR turned their sound around once again, but definitely not for worse.
Their last pieces, "Conventional Weapons", is kind of like the best of both world's between 'new MCR' and 'old MCR'. Although maybe not their best works, it was certainly a fitting finale piece for the band.
tldr; don't judge this band by its fans, it is quite emotional with a crazy awesome sound
One of my favourite bands. Their style changes with each album but never steps backward. Each album has a theme and theatrics to go with it. My Chemical Romance is a band that appeals to almost everybody and in my mind their music will still be kicking ass in 30 years.
One of those bands where it's really hard to judge the band without tripping over the image of their damned fans. I suppose they had a knack for plaintive lyrics and soaring sound, but I find them a little too self-important and whiny.
