Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 72.2/100, a mean average of 70.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.0/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 24.2.

Grace Jones is all about image.
But not in the way we know of today, where fans of certain artists seem to like their looks more than their music. Jones is different; with her, it's the projection of image that matters. More specifically, what she and her music convey.
It still amazes me that in the space of 10 years, Jones evolved from a model-turned-singer to a pioneering dance-pop and art-pop artist to one of the strongest female icons of the 1980s. She stands as a figurehead for the "do whatever you want" attitude, willing to pursue her own style and sound whatever the implications for her standing as an artist. "Fearless" doesn't do her justice.
The trio of albums she released in the early 80s, produced by the brilliant Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin, helped to cement her funk-synth-dub fusion style as one of the most important sounds of the decade, while her and Trevor Horn's towering achievement that is "Slave To The Rhythm" remains one of the best dance songs of all time.
Grace Jones was and still is an artist who is truly in control of both her sound and image, and both work alongside one another to make her a truly unique audio-visual artist.
Strengthened by her sheer confidence, vitally important for her music and empowered by her image, Grace Jones is a standout artist of the 1980s who simply demands admiration for what she has achieved.
