Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 71.0/100, a mean average of 70.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 20.8.

Any 500 best ever album list without artists from South America nor Africa should be considered a joke. Some awful indie rock picks instead of great gems from around the world. Awful list.
7 in the top 10 that I wouldn't put in the top 100.
This is a really weird turn for the chart considering their older one available on this website... seems like at some point they just decided to become complete rockists. To be fair though, there are some bold rock picks on here even if the whole list is lacking in any sort of variety, so I'll let it off without a terrible score.
Decent enough although, as you'd expect from NME, rather odd choices here and there incl. No. 1
Love the variety on this list! A little Britain-heavy, but not that much of a problem seeing as the music is good.
Nice list - good mix of taste. Obvious British bias with Stone Roses upfront, and extensive Smith and and Rolling Stones. But not a bad thing.
Little heavy on the British side but that's to be expected from NME. Otherwise a really cool and diverse list
ok
Pretty good representative chart. Parochialism well tempered unlike some of the RS and Pitchfork charts.
