Hillbilly Man, The Speak It Mountains, Bobby In Phoenix, and California And The Slipping Of The Sun are all great songs, but tracks 4, 6, 7, 8, and 12 kind of scream filler. And track 15 is cringe-worthy. It's not even a real yodel! Such a horrible ending considering how great the previous two songs were, but still, it's worth getting if you're prepared for an album that goes in a completely different direction than all of their others. If you're new to the band, get this album LAST. Demon Days, Plastic Beach, D-sides, and the debut are all spectacular, but this one is only mediocre at best."  [+]  Reply

"Strong album, good replay value. Favorite tracks are 'Easy Bake', 'Gumbo', 'The Ways', 'Telegram', 'Vice City', 'Fly On The Wall', & 'Money Trees Deuce'. Only thing I didn't like was the chorus in the track '90059', although I will say that after listening to the album a lot it does eventually so...""Strong album, good replay value. Prescient is the word for Em as he lays a big, fat turd on "encore" compared to his previous albums, figuratively AND literally, as he takes ass, turd, puke and pee pee jokes to an absurdly juvenile new l3vEl. This is the album where i stopped paying attention to Em. Because even if the album was filled with spit-wads and whoopee cushions, i'd still be listening if he didn't (mostly) lose the interesting lyrical content and didn't misstep with his flow. But he did. Most songs just aren't interesting WITHOUT the titty-pee-pee "humor". But add in the vomit and adolescent homo-eroticism, etc., and it's just too much by being too scant. This all equals a major disappointment for a guy that at one time was my favorite rapper. He was my favorite because of his intelligent audacity. On Encore, he has mostly de-evolved to a 5th grader. Too bad. All the cameos and samples can't hide that sh|t. But i say "mostly", because there's some salvageable material here, like "nockingbird" and "like toy soldiers" and especially "encore", that harkens back to when he was on top of his game (just 2 years ago!). But those are the exceptions. That final track "Encore" is where is game USED to be. It's slammin', no-nonsense, up in your face with Dre & Em takin' no sh|t with a great beat to boot. That closing track is the Em I remember. Most of the rest of the album is some 11 year old Em impostor. I wish the real slim shady would stand back up!"  [+]  Reply

"Pretty 70's electronic stuff. Its feels too melodic to be quite ambient music, but is still very pastoral and atmospheric. The songs are constructed in a very blocky minimalist way, but somehow still sound totally natural and human."  Reply
