"A startling return to form and their best LP at that point for 17 years, I cannot find any filler here, even the cover version Loop 41 which has to be the weakest track on offer has a certain charm to it. Theme From Sparta, Last Commands Of Xyralothep and Mountain Energei are all up there with th..."  [+]  Reply

"This band has the honour of the best band name origin story in the history of band name origin stories. Based on an early 20th century anti-humanist organisation called the Sleepytime Gorilla Press, their music is equally strange and incredibly accomplished. They even invent their own instruments..."  [+]  Reply

"The 3rd Cake album was not quite as delicious as the first two slices, but I could still go for several more helpings. Lots of good songs, my favorites are "Satan is My Motor," "Never There," "Sheep Go To Heaven" and "Walk on By.""  Reply

"This is a totally respectable debut. It is lifted from mediocrity by a couple of stand out tracks; opener Like a Star and side 2's Breathless are both great soulful songs that suggest there is a lot more to come. A 21st century Sade perhaps. Sadly CBR has yet to get there."  Reply
