Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.2/100, a mean average of 61.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 61.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.6.

Very underrated album
very experimental, very diverse
but did not sit well with their ususal audience and unfortunately did not break into any new ones
love out of my mind, big band and of course Electric Barbarella
Their self-titled wedding album marked the beginning of a new era for Duran Duran. Their 80s output was geared toward a marketable popularity all fancy, sparkly, fashionably stylish and ready-made for radio. Their self-titled released cooled the jets a bit on style replacing it with a more sincere approach to songwriting. That paid off with haunting numbers like "ordinary world" and "come undone", and after a covers album side-step, Duran Duran continued their more serious musical endeavors geared more towards artful creativity than bombastic popularity on "Medazzaland".
"Medazzaland", LeBon's drug trip, has its own haunting masterpiece "Out Of My Mind" embedded amidst a couple numbers reminiscent of "too much information" and dedications to Michael Hutchence (just before he committed suicide) and Kurt Cobain (after he committed suicide, of course). The entire effort is only tripped up from being another solid album in their canon by the opening, almost-spoken-word track with Nick Rhodes on lead vocals.
