This compilation covers James' later years on the Chess Label (Cat#: CHD-9281) as indicated in the album title, reveling in the Muscle Shoals R & B style with great success. James' delivery was always forceful, but here her added life experiences have influenced her singing even more. The gospel beginnings of her career are revisited in a number of the dozen tracks here. Authenticated on discogs.com
