These guys described themselves as a "dark metal" band, which I guess was their way of saying "we're not quite black metal, but we're also not grey or some neutral tone either." They also didn't look like black metal band (they were from Wales, so they probably would have stuck out like a sore thumb there). Still, they had the doomy-gloomy sound down pat, and the vocals were at least "black-metal adjacent." Frankly, if you're going to sing like that it's no wonder you'd show signs of senescence - your larynx would wear out pretty quickly, at the very least.
