“Dope Don't Sell Itself” doesn’t have any force behind it. 2 Chainz’s flow is dejected and bored. Bars that could be funny or hard are delivered with the enthusiasm of a teenager zoned out at a family dinner. The production often feels cheap with dollar store keyboard strings dragging and limp percussion. “Neighbors Know My Name” makes the questionable decision to interpolate the beat from “Laffy taffy” with only minor changes. The high point of the album is “Bet it back” with its creative cut up beat and the only vocal energy on the project. A deeply unmotivated project.
