Since I'm listening to Slaughter of the Soul and *really* enjoying it, I'll give this another comment.
The two albums I threw this in with on my initial comment I actually really like now (in fact Jane Doe is a 10/10). At that time, I was just being close-minded to screaming/drone, etc, and just couldn't get behind the idea of those two.
HOWEVER, my issue with the stuff on this record that I've listened to since is nothing to do with the fact that it is death metal, but more the irritating production and the vocals - which aren't my kind of screamed vocals at all. But yeah, there's substance in the stuff I've heard and it's definitely not vapid, so I was wrong. It's just not my kind of metal. Sorry.
