Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.4.

I bought this album because of “Gimme Some Slack”. One of my favorite tracks of this band that for some reason was not included in their compilation album. A very adventurous 3rd album, very different from its predecessors. I like the sound but it is difficult for me to engage with any of the rest of the songs.

It's OK. I have trouble figuring out this one - sometimes I think it's boring, sometimes I think I'm missing something.

Certainly not their best, but could be my favorite. Such a departure after 2 AOR hit albums. Weird and cool, a place in time. PLus one of the best opening lines of a song "I wanna shake like LaGuardia"

An interesting detour for The Cars. Instead of heading straight for the pop of Shake It Up and Heartbeat City, they went full-on New Wave here and the results are a mixed bag. What works, especially Gimme Some Slack, Touch and Go, Panorama, and Getting Through -- hell, the first half of the album -- is very, very good. The rest of the album is just there. It has its defenders and I wouldn't argue with them. There's just enough here to recommend.
