New Wave INXS is definitely interesting. Overall, an enjoyable listen. Nothing leaps out as amazing or anything (hence the lack of any hit single), but it's not bad. At times, maybe just a little weird. Hutchence's vocal talent as well as the potential for future hits is obvious, while they are Oingo Boingo-ing it up.
I didn't mind this album and I'm glad i ignored the bad reviews i heard, always use your own judgement, i found this album not too bad, sure it had a strange Mi-sex sound to it here and there but remember it was 1980! so it was the trend to make weird tunes on the the keyboard etc, sure some songs are 50/50 and dated like "Roller skating but there is some great tracks to be honest, "Jumping" has a great bass tune that just grows on you yet you can't help hearing this Madness sax tune in it but it's great anyway, honesty this album is worth the listen, it proves that Michael's voice is and was the backbone of this band.
INXS - the beginning....from this to Stadium Rock in seven years - if you think this is going to be what INXS were best known for you'd be disappointed, I think, but its an album that I do enjoy listening to. No sign of the funkier rock here, but an intriguing listen for those who fancy listening to a bit more INXS.
