Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 22% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.7/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.9.

This has a fantastic flow. A great balance of the rock element with melody and heavier textures on the slower tunes. A brilliant album right the way through with no weak tracks. Mike Patton is king vocalist. Very pleasantly surprised with this. One I resonated with immediately and always seems to have a calming affect on me. Love it.

Possibly my favourite band of all time. When I heard they were making another album I was a bit worried. What if it's crap? I was happy with their legacy. But not to worry, this is every bit as good s the two albums that preceded it (nothing beats Angel Dust). They didn't miss a beat..

A much tighter and coherent record than, king for a day, but now here near as eenjoyable. It totally misses that diversity and eclecticism of that underrated LP. Still, good tracks in, stripsearch, last cup of sorrow, and, helpless. Not their best then, but decent enough.
