Hilton Valentine died in 2021. He deserves to be remembered as the guitarist for the first three The Animals albums and more importantly for the iconic electric guitar arpeggio introduction to House Of The Rising Sun.

No particular albums that I absolutely love, but 'House of the Rising Sun' is iconic enough that they deserve a spot in history. Amazing vocalist and keyboardist.

maybe the band isnt as aclaimed as the beatles, but "house of the rising sun" is in top3 songs of the 60s, waaaaay ahead of its times - this song alone opened the door for many great great bands and songs in upcoming generations.
One of my favorite bands. Great at blues, very good at rock. House Of The Rising Sun is a true classic in every sense of the word.
A very good blues band with a HUGE singer. Their first two albums -maybe their first 3- are consistently good. They were playing the same league as the Yardbirds and maybe early Rolling Stones but when music changed after the Beatles 65-66 musical revolution they fell behind and their style was suddenly old overnight.

Most songs by this band seem to have "aged" more than songs by other bands (The Troggs for example also sound old, but still a lot "fresher"). This music seems out of time and ready to be forgotten (if not already by most). However, they do have 2 or 3 great songs, House of the Rising sun in the first place.
One of the seminal british bands of the mid '60's. Never up there with the Stones, Beatles or Kinks but still a very accomplished blues band.
The early Animals is great. Love the sound of the group and also Eric Burdon sings great!

Playing the same game as the Rolling Stones and Beatles, with a little bit more bluesy influences. They just don't do it quite as well. They have their moments (Rising Sun, Misunderstood, etc...) but they have way too much filler, and their post 66 work is awful. Too bad - they have some great tracks.
