Forget comparing this to modern records of last 60 some years, this joins the likes of Beethoven's 5th Symphony in regarding its supreme status as music as a form of art. The greatest album by the greatest band of all time. Thanks to the Fab Four's sharpest and most mature songwriting, their newfound psychedelic undertones and the Abbey Road production studio, this album takes us on a trip that soothes the heart and tantalizes the mind from start to finish.

The follow up to the greatest album of all time came the second greatest album all time by none other then, The Beatles. It's not a concept album, but acts like one and works together somehow so perfectly that it almost seems like one. Quality all the way through, gave us the colorful form of the new Beatles compared the black and white Revolver. Abbey Road again, being the realm of creative supremacy for the George, John, Paul and Ringo.

Best rap album by the best rapper ever. Eminem unleashed his Slim Shady persona on the world in this LP without holding back. The lyrics in the album are disgusting, offensive and completely irreverent. Yet for someone who appears without regard for artistic thought, Eminem constructs his rhymes with better technique than most modern poets. Dr. Dre's genius production work, Em's rhyme scheme, vocabulary and his delivery work perfectly without a "forced" rhyme.

The first big surprise on my list, however this record is too good to be ignored and stands as one of the most under-appreciated albums of all time. The graphic and intense tone of the lyrics seem to turn many people off but it only adds to the masterpiece that is 'Violent By Design.' Vinny Paz and Jus Allah along with a number of featured underground rappers deliver free-flowing rhymes with unique metaphysical violent subject matter that is complemented perfectly by Stoupe (The Enemy of Mankind)'s samples. Stoupe production work on this puts the listeners in a dark, atmospheric soundscape. Truly a collaboration of incredibly creative hip-hop minds.

The Beatles fourth album in the top ten. Rubber Soul was the first album by the 'new' Beatles. Now, experienced, more mature, and strictly working in the studio, this album is the perfect mix of the Beatles' early pop-like lyrics and their newfound sophistication. Great songs up and down this album as is commonplace on Beatles records, it kickstarted perhaps the greatest era ever in popular music.

Another big surprise to many, Slightly Stoopid are often overlooked because of their laid-back, stoner persona, however in reality they are very talented musicians. Influenced heavily by Sublime, Slightly Stoopid delivers its tightest production of their alternative/reggae genre, however it is not condensed only to those two. 'Everything You Need' will help you forget about how cruel the world can be, I feel the best way to describe it is: "super chill, and happy enough without being peppy." Perfect album for any reggae stoner.

What can you say about Led Zeppelin? This album is the definition of rock and roll. Only 8 tracks but packed with enough quality to leave any rock lover speechless. Page's legendary guitar, Plant's piercing vocals, Bonham's exemplar drumming and JPJ's instrumental genius drive the sharp, mystical lyrical content all the way through. A genre masterpiece, Zeppelin reached a peak in their creative arc with IV.

What a surprise, another Beatles album. Actually the last recorded album by the Beatles, they once again did not fail to impress. Perhaps the tightest, most well-constructed album ever put together by the group, highlighted by the 9 track medley to end the album. Abbey Road stands as my favorite one to listen to as an album from start to finish versus looking at each track individually. They knew they were done so they give the world one more reminder why they were the Beatles.

Well-known with parents, yet seemingly unnoticed by young people today. The Doors created a sound unique to any other rock band in the world. The dark, psychedelic mood set by the band and Morrison's deep poetry work perfectly in unison. Ray Manzarek's work on the keyboard remains one of the most under appreciated performances on a rock record to this today. Though very similar to 'Strange Days,' this album holds more weight with a deeper setlist then it's successor.

Perhaps the most tragic and frustrating death of any musician I know. Many greats have died, but Big L was killed BEFORE his prime and was still better in his time than 99% of other MC's before and since. Big L is hands down the greatest freestylist of all time, however he shows us his prowess in the studio with this one. He spits rhymes with a unique swagger, incredible flow and underlying humor, covering everything you need to know about a black man growing up in Harlem. Jay-Z may be mister number one nowadays, but he was just a featured artist on this one, with L showing the world that he was the next big thing in hip-hop. He may be gone but his legacy lives forever through this album.
