Lately I've found that Jim Morrison gets a lot of shit like, "not really that great of a lyricist or performer or w/e." He was the best. Simple as that. Sure he took too many drugs but he had the right idea as a frontman. And his voice is actually really great despite what a lot of people. The rest of the band also doesn't get enough credit. Robby Krieger actually wrote a lot of their songs and Manzarek's playing is what gives The Doors that special sound.

There was definitely no other band like them. They had that rare ability to be experimental while still having pop music sensibilities.

One of the most under rated bands, who in my opinion, have been forgotten about. The first doors album is one of the best albums ever made. Ray Manzerek is one of the most under rated keyboard players ever, he came up with some other worldly keyboard parts. The Doors, Strange Days, and LA Woman are definitely their best. Jim was a real rockstar. They don’t make them like that anymore (Edited)
My favourite band of all time. Considering they were writing music the same time as The Beatles I think the difference is huge. Their Music is 10 times more current and sits side by side any modern songs where as the Beatles music in general is totaly dated.
I walked into a shop the other morning singing Changeling to myself. Came out of the shop and Love Her Madly was playing. Consecutive songs on an album (LA Woman) written 44 years ago. Says it all for me.
