The Beatles' "flawed" masterpiece. It wouldn't be the same without "Honey Pie", "Wild Honey Pie" and "Revolution 9". I've always loved how the strings in "Good Night" unnoticeably introduce the listener to one last piece of real musical quality after the confusing avant-garde torment of "Revolution 9".

One of the extremest cases of something perfectly timeless yet so distinctively a product of its time. Highly comparable to "Pet Sounds" in the sense that the songs are well-written, but the emphasis still seems to be on the sound experience. The music is pure and lightly psychedelic with delicate use of baroque instruments adding up to a magical yet organic and "natural" journey. The bonus tracks (on some version) are fantastic too!

The first side of the album is bookended with a track called "Bookends Theme"/"Bookends". Clever, clever! Makes it clear that it's a conceptual first side of the album, apparently it represents the circle of life. Everything S&G touched became nostalgic, but the song streak "Overs" through "Old Friends" is their height when it comes to sounding nostalgic.

Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" actually feels like being born again! The right magic combination of jazz, folk, Van the Man's gorgeous voice and possibly a secret ingredient too, it's a "transcendent" listen.

Ah, such a warm delightful hippie album. Delicate melodies are flowering everywhere, great distinct vocal harmonies and the bass lines are pure Paul McCartney. Now THIS is an album that fits its era perfectly!

Summery and delightful through and through. The Beach Boys album most in line with the hippie movement and more than any other Beach Boys full of good vibrations.

Eternity's children... that name/title is pretty mind-blowing itself, but just wait till you hear the music. Sunshine pop meets psychedelia, almost unimaginably beautiful and impressive.

Change is now for The Byrd brothers where the artificial energy of psychedelic drugs clashes with the natural harmonies of the rootsier country-flavoured sound that The Byrds were moving towards. They may have started out as notorious, but this album is a transition into something purer and maturer. The final chapter of the psychedelic Byrds-era!

In search of the lost chord, The Moody Blues mselves manage to create music that sounds like voices in the sky even without it. Trippy and epic with visions of paradise!

Procol Harum shining brightly on their second studio album. It's a step up in terms of quality and ambition. The infinite piano on the album cover illustrates quite well the general mix of mad rock and classical music; just listen for the creepy vocals and screaming organ in the title track or the grand "In Held 'Twas in I" with both its horror-like sequence and its majestic finale.
