I've always been an avid music listener/buyer but slowed down about 5 years ago. Kids, work, etc. made it hard to listen and keep up with new stuff. Then someone gave me a copy of Interpol's 'Our love to admire'. That one album set me off on a buying spree of music about a year ago and led me to find this website.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Love the chart! Spilt Milk and Irresistible Bliss are personal favourites I rarely see together on one list. Would love to see 100 albums if you ever decide to come back!

Nice list and some interesting choices. Not many Pink Floyd fans would rank The Final Cut as their best album and I'm sure Stones fans would similarly be scratching their heads at Undercover being ranked higher than Exile, Banquet, Bleed, and Fingers. Even Our Love to Admire is an odd choice to see ranked higher than the first two albums. Definitely marching to your own drummer - which is cool I guess. (And those aren't the only three examples - your whole list is full of unconventional choices like that). I'm not much of a metal fan so the Iron M and Tool don't work for me much. Overall, a pretty well balanced and surprising list. Cheers.
