"The yellow jester does not play, but gentle pulls the strings
and smiles as the puppets dance, in the court of the crimson king"

The best album ever made, end of the story.
It is rather impossible to describe it, everything here is just perfect.
With each new listening this album reveals more and more its deep nature, which is related to both human soul and mankind soul.

Key tracks: - 21st century schizoid man: Really a great song, but it is nothing compared to Epitaph or the title track.

- I talk to the wind: Amazing flute solo and magnificent bridge leading to Epitaph.

-Moonchild: I assume that if one doesn't like this track cannot really enjoy the following track and cannot understand the entire album.

Outstanding masterpieces:

-Epitaph: "The fate of all mankind, I see, is in the hands of fools" Epitaph is out of this world.

-The court of the crimson king: "The gardener plants an evergreen, whilst trampling on a flower. I chase the wind of a prism ship, to taste the sweet and sour." In my humble opinion The court of the cirmson king is the best song of the century. It reminds me of the relationship between men and God in the dawn of ancient society (Sumerian age or stuff like that). It's divine.

"We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going!"

A magnificent journey, absolutely astonishing.
Listen to me, check this album out, listen to it again and again and again.
Lateralus deserves to be considered one of the greatest album ever composed

Key tracks:

-The grudge "Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down, justify denials and grip them to the lonesome end."

-Lateralus "Push the envelope, watch it bend"

-Disposition\Reflection "And in my darkest moment fetal and weeping, the moon tells me a secret, my confidant"

Outstanding masterpieces:

-Parabol\Parabola: "We barely remember what came before this precious moment" I assume that this song is INCREDIBLY powerful. Every time I feel upset or sad Parabola helps me with its inherent will-to-live feeling.

"E se nel fossile di un cranio atavico riscopro forme che a me somigliano
Allora Adamo no non può più esistere e sette giorni soli son pochi per creare. E ora ditemi se la mia genesi fu d'altri uomini o di un quadrumane!"
:

And if in a fossil of an atavic skull I discover shapes similar to mine
then Adam can't longer exist and seven days is a too short time to create
and now just tell me if my genesis belongs to other men or to quadrumana!"

Key tracks:

-L'evoluzione: "Prova, prova a pensare un po' diverso, niente dai grandi Dei fu fabbricato" "Try, try to think a little different. Nothing was made by the great Gods"

-750.000 anni fa l'amore: "Ma chi son io? Uno scimmione. Senza ragione senza ragione senza ragione" "but who am I? A big ape without reason, without reason, without reason"

-Ed ora io domando tempo al Tempo (ed egli mi risponde: non ne ho!): "Ruota eterna ruota pesante lenta nel tuo cigolio stai schiacciando le mie ossa e la mia volontà" "Eternal wheel, heavy wheel, your slow squeaking is smashing my bones and my will"

Try to listen to Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, you won't regret it.

"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking,
racing around to come up behind you again"

Great analysis of nowadays society, and after all a magnificent musical trip.

Key tracks:

-Breathe: "Run, rubbit run..."

-Us and them: "Black and blue, and who knows which is which, and who is who?"

-Any colour you like: One of my favourite instrumental tracks

Outstanding masterpieces:

-Time: "Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day"
Ladies and gentlemen, the best guitar solo of all time.

"Ma per quanti giorni ancora lo stesso sole mi scalderà?" :

"For how many more days will the same sun warm me?"

Key tracks:
-Dell'eterno ritorno

Outstanding masterpieces:
-Zarathustra
This 20 minutes long suite is made up of 5 different parts. Each single part flows perfectly into the following one. This sets a masterful crescendo that will reach the climax during the last part of this rock symphony, Il tempio delle clessidre (The hourglasses temple), that recalls the overture, L'ultimo uomo (The last man), employing the Leitmotiv structure.

"Shine on forever, shine on benevolent sun"

Key tracks:

-Vicarious "The universe is hostile, so impersonal. Devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been!"

-Jambi "Shine down upon the many, light our way, benevolent sun"

-Rosetta Stoned "Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position, such a heavy burden now to be the One..."

Outstanding masterpieces:

Wings for marie\10.000 days: "Shake your fists at the gates saying "I'VE COME HOME NOW!""
In my opinion, 10.000 Days is the best song of this century.

"Orrido inganno, falsità. Vaghi ricordi, Crudeltà. Sono impotente perciò piango nel silenzio" :

"Dreadful deception, Untruth. Faint memories, crudelty. I'm powerless, therefore I'm silently crying."

Do you want to dance with the ancient greek Gods around a campfire? Well, if you want to, try to listen to this amazing album.

Key Tracks:

-Il canto del capro "Magica danza ci porterà il seme, vivido intruglio disseta la mente" "(The) magic dance will bring us the seed, (the) vivid concoction waters the mind"

-Trittico "Are perdute nel tempo ricordano riti di gioia e dolore" "Altars lost in time recall rites of joy and sorrow"

-Melos "Maschere d'osso si baciano. Muta, torna la Luna a dipingere l'aria" "Bone masks kiss themselves. The moon, silent, comes back in order to paint the air"

"Strangers passing in the street, by chance two separate glances meet.
And I am you and what I see it's me"

This is a wonderful experience, the best of Floyd along with Dark side of the moon.

Bad tracks:

-Mademosielle nobs

Key tracks:

-Carefull with that axe, Eugene

-Set the controls for the heart of the sun

Outstanding masterpieces:

-Echoes part I: "Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air"
The Pompeii version is way way better than the Meddle one.
Near perfection.

- A saucerful of secrets:
Is it a struggle between good and evil?
My favourite instrumental track

"Nessun senso ha quel Dio che dice: sono Io! Sono Io!
Sentilo in quel soffio che respiri e non sai che è lui." :

"Meaningless is that God who says: "I am, I AM!" Feel him in that breath you breathe, and you don't know that it is him"

In Palepoli there are two 20 minutes long tracks, Oro Caldo (hot gold) and Animale senza respiro (Breathless Animal).
I consider Palepoli as an overview of postmodern italian society, expecially southern Italy, becouse the term Palepoli is a pun involving the greek terms for ancient city (Palepolis) opposed to the term Nea Polis (new city) that was the ancient name of Neaples.
Indeed, Palepoli is a warning for every human being in order not to become a "breathless animal".

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.2/100, a mean average of 91.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.0.
