Approach with caution! These albums can be very rewarding listens only if one has a solid foundation in jazz prior to picking them up. "The Wasteland" should not be the first poem you read. "Ulysses" should not be your first book. "Trout Mask Replica" should not be your first Rock album. These albums should not be your first Jazz albums...
But they are very very good.

Solid list! I'll have to check out a few of those that I haven't heard of. Also I would highly highly recommend Sun Ra's "God Is More Than Love Could Ever Be". Its very unusual, in that its just him on piano with bass and drums accompaniment. It really is superb, but pretty "advanced" and very unheard of. I have no idea how I even found it in the first place
