Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by gon2bed

I would say 90% of these albums I love every song. There are 53 different artists including my favourite bands such as: Radiohead, Massive Attack, Muse, Placebo, QOTSA and Editors. So it will have all of the albums by some artists, as I do listen to them so much. I've tried to list them but it's so hard, the Top 2 are probably the only two I think are certain.

For me Radiohead is the best band, they have everything I want in music and are also a great model on how a band should construct themselves. They have a great discography and there's no music that means more to me than this band.

The most impressive album I personally think. The beauty and sounds is untouchable. Airbag is just an outstanding start to the album with those riffs and then it ends with the beautiful song, The Tourist... It has its dark moments like Climbing Up The Walls which would fit perfectly on a horror film, it has plenty of rock, interesting sounds you wouldn't hear anywhere else. It has Paranoid Android which is for me the best imaginative rock song. Every song is as good as the last and it shows as I have been obsessed with every song a lot of times. It never gets old no matter how many times I hear it. I'd say that is a recurring theme with Radiohead albums altogether...

Top quality 90's rock, definitely one of my most listened albums down the years. A perfect mix of rock, acoustic, beautiful and relate-able music. The Bends is just epic rock, Just and My Iron Lung too. Every song has great riffs for me. Fake Plastic Trees is a hair raising song. High And Dry is just quality. The album ends with Street Spirit (Fade Out) which has such dark beauty in singing, riffs and drums. Seriously every song is perfect for me, I could write about every song.

Favourite songs: All of them as well.

As good as The Bends and OK Computer in terms of beauty. I had Videotape, All I Need and Weird Fishes played at my wedding recently so that shows how much I love this album. Every song grips you.

Favourite songs: Weird Fishes, All I need, Videotape, Reckoner and well it's an album you need to hear in it's entirety really.

A great mix of dark rock and electro from the band. The album gets a bit of stick for being too long or songs not in a great order but I couldn't disagree more. Love the songs, so the more the merrier for me. [First added to this chart: 11/20/2011]

Originality in a band that rocked before but still had high standards with Kid A.

Favourite songs: Well it's hard to say but most touching and beautiful song is, "How To Disappear Completely". Every song is different in sound to the last. Treefingers is great to relax to.

Hard to believe this man's albums were not selling when he was alive. He has a Beautiful voice, great strings and lyrics. The album is just so lovely and deeply sad but pleasant at the same time.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 79.6/100, a mean average of 76.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 21.7.

Well done for putting your favourite albums at the top and not trying to compile a 'designed by committee' chart distorted by the requirements of diversity.

Some real classics in this chart. I was a little put off by so much Radiohead at the top of the chart but at the end of the day, if those are your top albums, then that's your top albums.

Lol I just thought it was odd that you seemed to systematically go through a ton of pop and rap albums and rate them really low, a bit sad really. I'm rating it zero because it's just awful when you slap classic, superb albums with a 5/100 or 10/100. You can't be a music lover if Beatles/Floyd albums are that bad to you. I appreciate that we have different tastes but come on man, hardly any albums are really as low as 15/100 or so.
Also, no need to get aggressive, it's only a music site.

I feel you man. Maybe try going for 2 per artist or something like that and just add other albums in description or somethin, your chart is really nice and you seem so devoted to music, but I just can't like the chart if it repeats itself. But ofc, the first and the most important thing is staying true to yourself, my opinion doesn't matter. I found (I hope) some balance in my chart after years of trying, hope you can do that too if you want. Sorry for the late reply

@Ledzep I can't help the feelings, how much I love an album, not going to lie to please others. There's a reason a good 5 or 6 bands on this list have a lot of their albums or even all and that's because they are my favourite bands and honestly love their albums that much. Most of my albums in the top ten are well rated so it should be no shock they are there.

Not sure what rating to give you. I don't wanna dismiss your chart just because of top 5, there are really some fantastic albums beyond Radiohead. And you know I have the same problem of rating Floyd, Bowie, Iron Maiden and some other bands, but just for diversity I didn't want to fill the top 30 with 6 or 7 same artists. Makes the chart all the more accessible while still representing my taste well. You have that problem with only one band, but I suggest you to try and do the same.
