Metallica is a Californian thrash metal band and one of the most iconic bands in the world. Originally conceived as a thrash metal band, their self-titled fifth studio album went on to become one of the highest-selling albums in the world for its conventional heavy metal and hard rock approach. However, this approach would also be their downfall as some later albums would drop in quality overtime. Metallica has returned to their thrash metal roots with recent albums.
