Top 37 Music Albums of 2007
by mrmcrook

Not a bad year for music. Apart from the top two on this list being clear front runners, all others are very close and hard to place in any definitive order. Hence those near the bottom are not bad at all, just where they sit in the rankings for the time being

My top 10 favorite songs from 2007
1. The Chemical Brothers - = placing: The Salmon Dance + The Pills wont help you now
2. Nightwish - The Islander
3. Queens of the Stone Age - Into the Hollow
4. Powderfinger - Lost and Running
5. LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum
6. Velvet Revolver - Let it Roll
7. Nightwish - Last of the Wilds
8. Alter bridge - Blackbird
9. Within Temptation - The Howling
10. Bloc Party - The Prayer

85.83 The Chem's are my go-to whenever in the mood for electronica (or whatever you label this style as). I have almost all their albums. I love this the most as it's built more around rhythm & groove rather than the bleep, beep, squeal sound of the earlier recordings. Great to see live. One set of lyrics on this "The final chaos. It never stops. No-one stopping", couldn't be more prevalent than at the moment. The Chem's fucking rule. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

85.83 This is just grandeur plus. Everything on this just injects power. And even the softer tracks and ballads ooze with atmosphere. Up there with their best. Top class band and album [First added to this chart: 09/10/2021]

83.166* One of the best Prog Rock bands of the 2000's. Even with it being as rock as it is, it still has such a brilliant serene flow to it without falling into ambient territory. 12/25 [First added to this chart: 07/04/2023]

82.27 Bit more of a jolting tone and some sharper turns on most tracks than what was on previous albums. Song quality not quite matching either, but on that being said, this is still a great album with some outstanding tracks. Even when QOTSA make a sub par album for their standards, it's still an album that fucks over most that are put out by other bands. You can't fail with a QOTSA album. 04/24 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

Top notch solo effort. I've always liked Serj's vocals and style and this doesn't disappoint. Not equal to his SOAD work but still bloody great. Better than expected and has held the test of time well also. 10/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

81.15 An album of straight forward rock. A lot of high caliber tracks done well by class musicians. Better than the majority of Stone Temple Pilots albums. Better than most GnR albums. It was a fine marriage. Some cracking tracks on this with some solid riffs. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

81.11 Folk music blended with thrash metal equals Folk Metal. Brilliant. Fucking brilliant. Thrash metal is always interesting as a lot of thrash bands songs can all pretty much sound the same. Not these guys. They're great. Fast yet crisp, clear and varied. This band deserve to be more recognized in the Metal world. Consistent top tunes right through. Thumbs up. 02/24 [First added to this chart: 09/07/2023]

80.55 Reminds me of the Chemical Brothers in a lot of parts. Great rhythmic electronic rock. One that you can forget how good it is if you don't pull it out for an occasional listen. It was 'North American Scum' that got me onto this. Still as great as the first time I heard it 07/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

80.45 Rock that just oozes serenity. Rock that just sweeps you up and takes you along for the ride. From the get go you can't help with the head nodding, foot tapping, body swaying. They're a fucking great underrated band 12/24 [First added to this chart: 08/02/2024]
