Top 37 Music Albums of 2007 by mrmcrook

Not a bad year for music. Apart from the top two on this list being clear front runners, all others are very close and hard to place in any definitive order. Hence those near the bottom are not bad at all, just where they sit in the rankings for the time being

My top 10 favorite songs from 2007
1. The Chemical Brothers - = placing: The Salmon Dance + The Pills wont help you now
2. Nightwish - The Islander
3. Queens of the Stone Age - Into the Hollow
4. Powderfinger - Lost and Running
5. LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum
6. Velvet Revolver - Let it Roll
7. Nightwish - Last of the Wilds
8. Alter bridge - Blackbird
9. Within Temptation - The Howling
10. Bloc Party - The Prayer

85.83 The Chem's are my go-to whenever in the mood for electronica (or whatever you label this style as). I have almost all their albums. I love this the most as it's built more around rhythm & groove rather than the bleep, beep, squeal sound of the earlier recordings. Great to see live. One set of lyrics on this "The final chaos. It never stops. No-one stopping", couldn't be more prevalent than at the moment. The Chem's fucking rule. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

77.50 These guys and this album sounds like a deeper, more brooding version of The Killers. But way better than The Killers. I think so anyway. Starts great but starts to sound all to similar by the end. Not that that's bad as they're all decent songs. Better than I remembered it to be upon recent listen. 11/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

76.36 This had the 'when it ain't broke, don't fix it' framework about it. They seemed to use the same template, so nothing new style wise but they have a great sound so that's not bad at all. I did find with this however there weren't as many standout tracks and it was quite front heavy. After that most tracks were just blending into each other. Not their best but still a decent album 05/24 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

Had this for years. I'd always seemed to put it in an 'also ran' category. But I've found it's a lot better than I'd given it credit for. Similar to what I feel about The Strokes, I'm enjoying this a lot more now than I did in the past. First few tracks start with a hiss and a roar. Overall a decent album but gets a tad 'samey' in the back half. 07/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

75.76 Always hard to summarize an UNKLE album. This keeps in line with 'Never Never Land' with it's under current dystopian feel. There's a slight taste of variety in a few tracks with the guest artists brought in but still keeping with the overall theme. Not their best but up there. 10/22 [First added to this chart: 10/09/2021]

75.00 I always feel Kaiser Chiefs get judged a bit harsh. They produce great rhythms and melodies. They have albums which are among the best from those put out of the time and genre. This one is good but not as consistent as some of those others. 01/24 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

It's alright but nothing to get me excited or separates it from the pack. Tame made for radio rock. Reminds me of the a Scottish Foo Fighters. After finding out they've headlined Download, I expected more. Bit disappointed. 03/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

Very mediocre. They're not bad, but they don't set the world alight in any manner 11/24 [First added to this chart: 12/07/2024]
