An absolutely phenomenal musical explosion. Best pop record of the decade so far and it's not really close. There's nothing but solid synth pop fundamentals and banger after banger of tracks Matt and Mica mixed themselves. The duo purchased their first synth Oct 19, 2020, and 1 year later came out with Magdalena Bay.
There're more interesting musical moments on this than many pop artists' entire discography including 100% of the ones who are billionaires.
I'm hopeful that by the time this decade is over, there will be quite a few Mag Bay records occupying spots on this list. [First added to this chart: 06/02/2023]

One of the most technically skilled vocalist of all time both on record and in live performance. For people who like the hyperpop aesthetic but don't like most of the annoying glitches and oddities, Caroline is the consonant version of that. This deviates more from Pang and even further from her indie pop work in Chairlift, this leverages 90s trip hop and goes to a place that is truly her own.

AG Cooking up another one. Arguably her best record. There is a hierarchy and Charli is at the top.

Here's the thing: their debut album was criminally underrated, then they followed it up with a less than stellar 2nd record, and then the smug critics congratulated themselves.
Then this came out, and everyone had to come to grips with the fact that HAIM are actually really talented songwriters, and that if they keep going they might carve out a really nice discography. The extra tracks on this record are also phenomenal honestly. [First added to this chart: 06/02/2023]

A phenomenal record for reasons that have all been stated everywhere else. This is probably the canonical BEA record you have all been waiting for, and for good reason. A record that is instantly special on first listen and gives a little more with every subsequent listen. And you knew it would be one of those worth listening to again and again.
