Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by NathanTen
This list is essentially my choices from 2011, frozen in time. I'm happy enough with it, but it's still a little too stiff and guilty of ancestor-worship. Since then I've seriously overhauled my list (on another music site I have a top 350 up with titles ranging chronologically from Washington Phillips, Ella Fitzgerald, and Chuck Berry to Bad as Me by Tom Waits and Kendrick Lamar. I look forward to getting the next level status and being able to expand and switch around titles as I see fit.
Albums that easily could have made the chart, in no particular order: Pink Moon, Remain in Light, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Call Me, Thriller, Odelay, Sticky Fingers, Stories from the City Stories from the Sea, The Who Sell Out, Pretzel Logic, Achtung Baby, Elvis Presley, Bringing It All Back Home, Kala, Paul's Boutique, A Love Supreme, Raising Hell, Electro-Shock Blues, The Bends, Houses of the Holy, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, Illinois, Dirty Mind, Surfer Rosa, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, Born to Run, The Queen is Dead, The Low End Theory, Slanted and Enchanted

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 83.8/100, a mean average of 82.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 11.8.

Brilliant chart! Top Marks!
Very interesting tastes and a nice list to check, cheers!!
Not much love from my great era the 80's. But yes the 60's were brilliant
Great list, very comprehensive.
Great start, well worth highlighting.
Great chart not very in common but some great picks
Cool chart, I'm happy to see a stevie wonder album in the top 10.
I like this chart, it really reminds of me what my chart was like when I first arrived here (Minus the hip hop albums), gives me good nostalgic vibes. 11 albums in common isn't bad at all, props on Graceland aswell, needs more love around these parts. Looking forward to seeing a full 100.
My only problem with this chart is that it's dominated by 60s/70s music. Almost half the albums are from the 60s. They are all great albums though, just not a ton of chronological variety.
awesome!
