Well said, junodog. I would say "inexplicably only registered a blip on the world market." For anyone who likes Wilco but thinks there's something missing, this is your band. With all due respect to Tweedy and company this band is better across the board in terms of variety, strength and even playing. This band features two very talented leads who trade off singing and songwriting switching between a variety of styles. That made them a great band but difficult for some people (especially radio programmers) to "figure out" maybe. However, those of us who know them know how ridiculously accessible they are, how beautiful Cuddy's creations are, how Keelor adds an edge and how great a band (notably with Wiseman) this is.
Right up there with the Tragically Hip, Sloan, and Bran Van 3000 as seminal Canadian bands that have barely registered a blip on the world market, especially the states. Blue Rodeo have created 12 consistent albums, and their 5 90s albums are country-rock classics. They can rock hard on one track, return to gritty rural roots on another, space out on a third, and make your heart break on at least one track per album. Not only that, they're down-to-earth guys who put on a stellar show. Start with 5 Days in July and move from there.
