Amazing album, I prefer Hello because it's more consistent but this is also great.

This is a concept album of sorts about her dad that recently died. (her brother was similarly-inspired to write a book.) The album -feels- haunted and is interspersed with recorded quotes from her dad. The title track brings a hint of tragic beauty amidst the haunting sound effects (singing "I'm haunted / By the lives that I have loved / And actions I have hated" and "Time to gather up the splinters / Build a casket for my tears"), a tale of cherished memories and regrets. "control" is tough, firmly taking control saying "All those things / That you taught me to fear / I've got them in my garden now / And you're not welcome here". "walk the walk" and "wild" are my favorites. My top complaint of her debut was that the best tracks i heard that i thought were from the album were actually remixes of songs on her album. On haunted, the mixes are in the pudding (so to speak), and those top album tracks hold nothing back. "walk the walk" charges through with confidence and assertion as a pretty good pop/rock dance track walking to the beat of her own drum featuring strong drums throughout the track. "wild" is truly wild varying up the 8:58 song delightfully in a couple places. "i go wild because you break me open" kicks it off slow but immediately picks up and eventually ends in near-self-destructing (by way of mr. reznor-lite), dance track chaos Other highlights include the humorous, defiant declaration of "not a virgin" (she's not one anymore!), "could've gone mad" and "amazed".
