Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 63.0/100, a mean average of 61.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 61.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.4.

The band was not afraid to experiment and nothing proves this more than this concept album produced by Bob Ezrin with Lou Reed as a co-writer on a few songs. I really enjoyed the change up and the music and playing is well done. A World Without Heroes is a classic track. I also really enjoy Under The Rose, The Oath, Mr Blackwell and I.

The most divisive record among KISS fans. I rate it pretty high because if you go through it track by track there is too much great material. "The Oath" featured perhaps Paul's best vocal performance on a powerful metal track that feels both epic and cinematic. "Under The Rose" is a Gothic beauty combining choirs and power chords to great effect. "Dark Light" is a fantastic Ace song with a fantastic Ace solo. And then there's "A World Without Heroes." A beautiful song with heroic sentiments beautifully sung by...Gene.
Yea, the "concept' was silly. And Ezrin taking KISS into Pink Floyd territory was as bad an idea as the haircuts and new costumes, but I am very glad this record is in their catalog. I play it often.

Even by Kiss standards this is pretty bad. Can you believe Lou Reed collaborated on this? A total mess, with a few half decent songs in there somewhere.

Even Gene and Paul hate this album. But still have very good tracks. Only You, Under The Rose, Dark Light, A Word Without Heroes and Mr. Blackwell are great songs, not the usual stuff for KISS but very good musically speaking. It is a pity that it does not have the credit that deserves.
