Top 22 Greatest Music Albums by vinnid127
My favorite albums change a lot but the top 5 usually stay the same. I'm constantly discovering and falling in love with new bands, albums, songs, styles and genres so never expect a cemented list. Also feel free to give me some recommendations, there can never be too much great music at hand.
PLEASE LEAVE ALBUM/BAND SUGGESTIONS. WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

I believe it is that single line above that made me (after 5 long months) finally realize the ingenuity of this record. At the outer-layer the music is quite simple indie-rock yet as you divulge further towards the core of The Moon & Antarctica you find a dark atmosphere being created by the band centred primarily on the questionable nature of ourselves as human beings.
I'll cut straight to it, the lyrics are a life-affirming 11/10. Isaac Brock wastes no time discussing the matters we all fear most (namely life, death, salvation and what happens once we meet finally meet our "maker"). Some tracks are touching and some are just downright-mindblowing.
As i said before it is primarily the introspective lyrics that play to the record strengths, yet the production is also quite brilliant especially on the 8 minute epic "The Stars are Projectors" or the disturbingly-isolating "The Cold Part". None the less it seems that Isaac Brock knows something about the meaning of life that the rest of don't, therefore snippets of his knowledge seem to seep through throughout the album and it is because of these memorable one-liners that i finish my babbling-review with one little piece of food-for-thought.
"Everyone's afraid of their own lives, if you could be anything you want i bet you'd be disappointed, am i right?" [First added to this chart: 11/20/2013]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.9/100, a mean average of 85.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.5.

Lovely chart

Pleasant surprise(s)

You really do a great job of capturing your own feelings and the relevance of the record with your comments. I look forward to seeing you add more selection and comments to this chart!

Greaat chart! I think we have a similar taste as I found your chart through your comment on War on drugs song thinking of a place. Highly reccommend looking at my chart, for more reccomendations but to give one, i highlyreccomend Sufjan Stevens, my favourite modern singer/songwriter atm.

One of the best charts with less than 25 entries I have seen so far. Keep up the good work! Here are a few albums I would recommend:
The Microphones - The Glow pt 2. Easily the best lo-fi band out there. Phil Elverum (the guy behind The Microphones, as well as his more recent and equally excellent band Mount Eerie) makes really unique and interesting music, that I think you could love.
Slint - Spiderland. Its a math rock album that makes the Pixies' version of the good old loud-quiet-loud formula seem quaint. It is definitely very challenging, but very rewarding as well.
Alison's Halo - Eyedazzler. A wondewrful shoegaze album from an almost unheardof band. It definiteyl isn't quite as noisy as Loveless, but its one of the few shoegaze albums I've found that feels really unique and interesting. On a side note, if you haven't listened to m b v, definitely give that one a listen or two or four.

Fellow Melbournian here , you’re chart is building nicely but needs more entries, check out the following albums that IMO are awesome but lesser known
Kassabian: “ West Ryder Pauper Asylum “
Galaxy 500: “ On Fire”
Built To Spill: “Unteathered Moon”
The Horrors: “ Primary Colours “ ( this one is a real grower and takes 2-3 listens to get)
That’s just off the top of my head...

It's a fascinating chart, I'll rate it when it reaches at least 40. As for suggestions, looking at the chart I can see Death Grips, Temple of the Dog, early Rainbow. Don't know why, but I think they would all fit here
I always love to see comments for each album so I applaud you for that.
Thank you for Siamese Dream and Sound of Silver. You win in my book.

You have rad taste.
