Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Amirkhosro (2020)

Limited to recordings made during their composers' lifetime, This basically means no classical music composed before album era.

Good recommendations will be cherished. Much love.

To this day no other record has captured the post-nuclear zeitgeist as succinctly and completely as White Light/White Heat. You press play and jump head first right into an ever-expanding world of destruction, nihilism and death where harsh noises tribal grooves fuck your senses up and you're lead by shamans who absolutely do not give a fuck. This was made a year or two before Reed and Cale began to publicly evolve to legend status, and the virtually nonexistent recognition for their first album and shows resulted in them feeling free enough to take any risk they want with nothing to lose. The album was recorded in two days and carries a heavy aura of malice and vitriol all throughout its unpredictable course, and band's sole target on this record is to make amazing effortless shit. To overly simplify things, think of Confield as the moment when electronic music started to breathe. The reasons why this happened are: a) Autechre love pushing boundaries. Like, they're head over heels in love with it all the time. It's uncanny. b) It sounds like they went through some really heavy, difficult shit and emerged victorious before/during this recording, because these pieces enter the total mindfuck zone as soon as you give them a minute or two. Definitely the hardest album to get in this top 10 because of all the dark deeply painful and emotional undertones and all the controlled madness playing with your head, but the destination is well worth the journey and the journey is the key to the destination. Mad good stuff. This type of music will become mainstream in a century or two. [First added to this chart: 12/16/2014]

This motherfucker holds up better than anything I've ever heard, and apparently millions and millions of people keep buying and rating it too as well, so yeah. Almost deserves the #1 spot but it's just kind of blue. Also holy shit look at the line-up if you haven't noticed yet. [First added to this chart: 06/16/2014]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a mean average rating of 90.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 90.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.6.

These descriptions are power drilling their way into your conscious to prove their point, epic stuff. There's also a really nice variation and mix of classics and obscure stuff; all with being personal and not forced. Also love the masses of Autechre (NTS-sessions FTW!), if I had to be commenting on the picks themselves.

As you asked for recommendations;
Quique by Seefeel
Entain by Vladislav Delay
I Trawl the MEGAHERTZ by Paddy McAloon
And I'll throw in Murmüüre (self-titled) for a change of pace - ambient black metal

It's a little scary not seeing A Love Supreme as your number one album and not even in top 10!

Don't miss "Musst Musst" when you survey Nusrat's albums, I think this one would be your favorite album of his.

Nusrat finally makes an appearance! Highly recommend The Day, the Night, the Dawn, the Dusk; Shahen Shah; Shahbaaz; Love Songs; and En Concert a Paris too.

@salahshoori I've started adding electronic music and post 1950 classical music to the list. Right now I'm all over Aphex Twin's discography and in addition to his albums that I've listed here, DrukQs has a shot at top 50/20/10 even.

I guess I will be done with this list around the time Another Green World gets to #100.

Wonderful chart -- we surprisingly don't have a ton in common chart wise, but a lot of stuff that just barely missed my chart (The Feelies, Soft Machine, Brian Eno, Slint, The Pop Group, DJ Shadow, Eric Dolphy, Fugazi, Sun Ra, The Gun Club -- the list goes on) and could easily end up on my chart if you checked tomorrow.

The choices we do have in common are great ones, and there's a ton of stuff here that I need to listen to. Will be saving this one.
