"My favourite ever album. Complex, and simple, assured but experimental. Done in one session! with the best jazz musicians assembled, they were all on form. You cannot "get" this music, it seems to change and surprise and delight at every playing. Mature, confident, engaging and rewarding. The mor..."  [+]  Reply

"cant remember the last time i liked an album this much on the first listen. Lots of really creative song writing, good chord progressions, experimental rhythms, good backing vocals, everything to like."  Reply

"Microphones is an extraordinary band led by the genius Phil Elvrum who works on the experimentation in the lo-fi music. The very special art of Phil Elvrum and his band reaches its peak on this album of 2001. The sonic research started on "It Was Hot We Stayed in the Water" here reach an impressi..."  [+]  Reply

"I know taste is subjective and all but, this album being below 7 Radiohead albums just shows how absurd this website is lol Basically Elton's greatest hits album with what is probably one of the best openers of all time. Candle of the Wind, Bennie and the title track are also amazing tunes. Overa..."  [+]  Reply

"Hard for me to express how much this album resonated on a personal level. Dirt captures the feeling of being trapped, whether from addiction or depression etc. There is something incredibly poignant in listening to Layne Staley on this album, knowing how things would turn out. Them Bones is a fan..."  [+]  Reply

"Kick out out the Jams, motherfuckers! Turns out the MC5 were just the warm up band. Utterly stripped down, Funhouse basks in being lean and young, stalking & swaggering through the city streets. After being restrained by John Cale for platter number one, Iggy Pop turns into a feral beast on this ..."  [+]  Reply

"The title track is excellent, Motion Pictures is basically perfect, but then he goes ahead and closes the album with Ambulance Blues. A perfect album closer, among the best ever, and certainly the best acoustic ballad album closer aside from Desolation Row. I might even prefer it for it's emotion..."  [+]  Reply
