Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.0/100, a mean average of 89.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.5.

Descriptions really do hit the spot. Waiting for more albums to give you 100. But I really do respect the 52 albums format. Makes every entry count

Hey. I recently got a chance to listen to all your albums in your top 10 or so. A lot of time has passed since I joined the site and saw your chart for the very first time but I still can't get it out of my head. I love your commentary and respect your decision to keep it top 59 instead of top 100. I hope you don't mind, but recently I did the same with mine and it's looking a lot cleaner thanks to that. Hopefully over the summer I'll be able to add my own summaries to my albums as well. I feel like your chart is the perfect chart for someone to look for albums that are thought provoking with often deep meanings behind the lyrics or an original sound. It's high quality stuff, but not always what I'm going to want to listen to on a day to day basis. Sometimes I just want something with a good hook even if the lyrics aren't the best and while you've got a lot of stuff I can get behind some of it just isn't my taste. All together your chart is still my favorite and I don't really have much else to say except that I'm excited to see how it progresses!
