"Recently bought the vinyl reissue on Gnome Life after listening to it for a while on a poorly-ripped mp3 copy I downloaded from the 'net. And it sounds absolutely gorgeous. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to appreciate the beauty and emotions that leaps off Basho's guitar strings, and eve..."  [+]  Reply

"After more than two years and nearly a hundred listens probably, this still feels extremely fresh and invigorating. Almost as good as immaculate Little Earthquakes, and a truly perfect album. If I didn't have my one-album-per-artist rule, this would be around #8 on my chart."  Reply

"Released in 1984, this album had a profound impact on my burgeoning music tastes. Not necessarily because it’s particularly good (I’ll get to that) but rather how it opened my eyes and ears to the world of 4AD which in turn lead me to artists such as Big Star, The Cocteau Twins, Belly, Bauhaus, D..."  [+]  Reply

"At this point, Phil Collins is the master of his pop/rock craft. He brings back his signature, hard-hitting drum sound, Daryl Stuermer and enlists a few different guests this time around, including eric clapton (on affecting "i wish it would rain down"), david crosby (on socially-aware "another d..."  [+]  Reply

"The music scene in Amherst/Northampton, Massachuetts, back in the late eighties and early nineties has to have produced more great bands per capita than any other in history. J Mascis is one of rock history's greatest under-the-radar guitar gods, underrated perhaps because his extravagant soloing..."  [+]  Reply

"Check out this album with an open mind, whether you think you may like Van Halen or not. "Fair Warning" isn't a party like "Van Halen" and doesn't have something for everyone like "1984." It has a cynical, streetwise, skateboard punk attitude, and funk grooves in almost every song. It's been only..."  [+]  Reply

"This is one of those albums where upon listening, it’s obvious how many similar bands were formed in its wake. They perfected the heavy, shoegaze-y sound here. Chino Moreno is a big fan and with good reason. Just a really solid album."  Reply
