Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 79.9/100, a mean average of 77.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 18.0.

Good chart, very personal. However I never like the one album per artist rule...it's just hard to fully grasp ones musical taste with that method.
A return blow from a guy that hits below the belt. 5/100 - are you kidding me? I have been an avid music listener for over 40 years and believe that I have reasonable taste. I hope you take pleasure in degrading others.
I listened to Settle the second there was a copy online.. I was actually really excited for that album, I thought it'd be big. I knew 'White Noise' beforehand, and I thought it was a great dance track.
The rest of the album was really... 90's-Brit dance esque. I didn't find it that impressive. It wasn't bad by any means, but I was just expecting something on the same level as Random Access Memories or another high quality modern dance record. AlunaGeorge have been promising though, and I have their debut album on my backlog. Hoping to listen soon :)
It was just a bit disappointing to me.. And then it got rave reviews just a few days after, so I relistened, but still got nothing out of it. Just something that didn't click. We all have those sort of artists :)
But thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the chart. I'm working on listening to a lot of 2013 albums in the next few weeks.. Especially with the killer September line-up.
I like the way you constructed the chart, sorting by the most listened albums from itunes. It does not let much place to randomness or current passions. It's not because you don't listen much anymore to one past favourtie band that it is not good. I like this way of rating, it's moving in the right direction, summing the passions of one's life (or one piece of life : I doubt you had itunes all your life :-)).
Now about the content itself, I'm not familiar with all, not fan of some, but interested in discovering others.
Happy New Year to everyone who uses Best Ever Albums.
