I know picking this record as my number one is a kind of frowned upon by the music elites for its popularity but this albums will always be my favorite and hold such a special places in my heart. Pink Floyd is the band that made want to listen underground and experimental music. Its the base of all my music taste to come. A lot of this showed me why I loved music so much, from great story telling, excellent song writing, and to beautiful well crafted songs. I very much doubt I would be listening to some of my other favorite artist if it wasn't for this band.

Epic. Thats really all you need to say. Maybe add sad, doomed, poetic, chaotic, beautiful, and daunting. What ever word you wish to describe it as dosen't really matter. To me and so many others this album, this band, this group of talented and introspective Montreal musicians have changed my mind and hearts like so few have. I remember growing up wanting to listen to a certain type of music but never being able to find the right one. Some came close but never just right. But then, oh boy, i heard this album. And it was like my inner self that had been longing for this heroic and depressing and gorgeous music had found what it had been looking for, for so long. Godspeed and the other 2 bands associated with it really have become like the sound track to my life.

From and early age I sort of already had a fascination with ambient noise and sound. I remember very fondly listening to rain at night with my window open, while my dog also listening to my dogs slow melodic breath by my bed side. Or going camping and listening to the the fire slowly burn as the darkness of the woods surrounded me. While most people don't consider Grouper as an ambient artist to me I feel as tho her music this album is taking that absent woodland sound and reconstructing them into this beautiful art Psych Pop.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 5% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.7/100, a mean average of 88.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.1.

Hey this is fantastic chart. You obviously like sad indie rock/folk and post-rock. But who can blame you. If it moves you it f**kin moves you. That being said, I enjoy checking this chart out quite a bit. Was not expecting the Grouper and Monk; I love to see the delicious input from charts like these!

I'm personally not the biggest fan of Pink Floyd but this chart is gorgeous. Keep it up with the notes and I'll up this to a perfect score!

Lots of great prog and jazz in there. Other than the standard Dylan/Young worship, this looks a lot like some of my charts.
