I grew up in Manchester and have always felt very fortunate to have been surrounded by such a vibrant music scene during my formative years. This is a chart dedicated to all things Manc. I have gone one album per artist to avoid it becoming a Smiths/Joy Division fest and to show some of the versatility from the city.
Suggestions and comments as always very welcome.

Yes indeed - a magnificent chart and to think they are ALL from Manchester. That is truly amazing. Loving the inclusion of Cherry Ghost, who I am just getting into.

Hahah - I'll give you the Charlatans... but the Verve are from Wigan which is and has been for my lifetime part of Greater Manchester... and without Manchester there would be no Chemical Brothers! :)
it was a great musical place to grow up, despite (or perhaps because of) all the many social problems of the 70s and 80s!

The best music city ever. Unlike where I'm from. You have been kind of economical with the truth including groups like charlatans, verve, chemical bros etc however even though not from manc they are, for many reasons, as entitled to be in the list as the others and to not include would be pedantic. So many great bands and in 88-90 the centre of the universe. And as you've shown, that 1st Mondays lp is vastly underrated.
