Great chart very eclectic. Great range of taste. Must check out your no. 1. I hadn't heard of it. 22 albums in common so that's good. But even if we only had 3 albums in common I would still like your chart for the comments and its originality man. And terrific to see Scoundrel days by a-ha in there. A truly magnificent 80s album. Good work mate!

Looks like the chart of someone who enjoys a good time.

Your chart is honestly quite odd, but I don't mean that negatively.

On one hand, it has plenty of classics from bands like Pink Floyd and the Beatles, and multiple albums by said artists. Usually these are indicators of someone fairly new to music.

On the other, your inclusion of bands like Porcupine Tree showcases fairly thorough knowledge of select subgenres (in this case, progressive metal). This usually signifies someone very knowledgeable who appreciates very specific types of music (in this case, amazing musicianship).

My guess is that you somehow came across a few obscure sounds you liked (some forms of metal and some electronic music) and they interested you in music enough to make you explore the classics. You've probably had Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper in your collection for years--maybe you even grew up with them--but now, you're trying to start with the best of the best classics, and what better place than with the Beatles? I'm willing to guess you recently started listening to them to expand your horizons, hence, the lower placement on your chart.

Maybe I'm totally off, but this is what I'm going to guess.


As far as your chart, try to start narrowing down the number of albums per artist, particularly for a chart of 40. Many of the elites on here will say you should only have 1 album per artist, but I think it's fine to have a few from bands like Pink Floyd due to how different each of their albums were.

As far as album recommendations, I'll refer you to my #1: In the Court of the Crimson King. This album was the beginning of progressive music, and the band, King Crimson (still under one of the founding members), actually opened for PT in 2006. The musicianship is amazing, and it's a thoroughly good classic that has a sound you are familiar with. If you are ready for something new, just visit my chart and find one that sounds interesting.


I'll refrain from giving a rating until you have more time here. It has plenty of potential, you just need some more time.

Thanks for the positive feedback! We actually have a lot of artists in common, but I don’t notice that from the top 20... oh I see, you also only add one album per artist. Anyway, there’s a lot of exploring to do here for me.

Hey thanks for the rating! If you're still looking for Hip Hop recommendations try Milo (Things That Happen at day, Toothpaste Suburb, and So the Flies Don't Come are all great). I never liked Hip Hop until I discovered his stuff.
