Here are a few things about my chart before you need to know
- I slightly prefer progressive and artier genres and styles, and the majority of my chart is from the 70's, but hey, music is subjective and my ears just prefer this period of music and I've tried to keep the selections in my chart fairly personal.
- I've also added in the description in each album which shows the genre, key songs.
-My chart tends to move around a lot (even my top 10), for I am constantly discovering new music.
-I've also added something at the end to show how quickly I took a liking to the record.
INSTANT CLASSIC – Loved it on first listen
FLIP-FLOP – Hated it/thought it was boring on first listen, loved it after revisiting some time later
SLOW BURN – From mediocre to excellent over many listens

The Lamb Lies Down On BroadwayUnited Kingdom Genesis
My absolute favorite album of all time. Its theatrical, elaborate and one of the most strangely rewarding pieces of progressive rock music i've ever listened to. The album veers between wild improvisation and tight control. It is ultimately the perfect showcase for Genesis's signature blend of art and power.

Genre: Progressive Rock

Crime Of The CenturyUnited Kingdom Supertramp
Supertramp's breakthrough album, this ultra-tight, progressive, and at times emotional album delivers the notion that Supertramp is a unified entity. The album is as always a showcase for the electric piano and the saxophone.

Genre: Art Rock

KEY TRACK(S): School, Bloody Well Right, Dreamer

In The Court Of The Crimson KingUnited Kingdom King Crimson
This mellotron drenched mixture of psychedelia, jazz, and classical is one of the most fantastic progressive rock albums of all time. All the musicians blend together to create an album of force and originality. With Fripp and McDonald piling on layers of sound, and Greg Lakes foreboding vocals, this album set the tone for the incoming prog revolution.

AnimalsUnited Kingdom Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd's scathing attack of capitalist oppression is one of the best progressive rock albums of all time and my personal favorite Pink Floyd album. David Gilmour shines on this album and he paints with his guitar over Richard Wright's bleak panoramic soundscapes. Its processed, minimalistic, and rich.

Genre: Progressive Rock, Art Rock

KEY TRACK(S): Dogs, Sheep

Remain In LightUnited States Talking Heads
On Remain In Light, rhythm takes control. Each of the eight songs adhere to a single guitar-drum riff. Thin shifting layers of keyboard, percussion, and guitar features are prominent. Lots of afro-beat, and funk flourishes spruced throughout. Very innovative and revolutionary album, Remain in Light paved the way for tape loops and using the recording studio as an "instrument."

Genre: Post-Punk, Afro-funk, Worldbeat, New Wave

At Fillmore EastUnited States The Allman Brothers Band
At Fillmore East is one of the most brilliant live albums ever recorded. The first two sides are devoted to exceptional versions blues standards such as "Statesboro Blues", and T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday." Side three is devoted to the groups "Hot Lanta," and my personal favorite from the album, a jazzy, hypnotic rendition of Dickey Bett's "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed." The album closes with a 23 minute version of "Whipping Post." Duane Allman shines immensely and represents how groundbreaking his playing was in his very short career cut short at the age of 24.

Genre: Blues Rock, Jam Rock

KEY TRACK(S): Whipping Post, In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed

FragileUnited Kingdom Yes
As you've probably seen, I am a lover of progressive rock music. Fragile is one of the finest examples of this genre. Yes has a consistency of each musician in the band developing each person's own signature style. Bill Bruford's insanely syncopated and polyvalent drumming style, Chris Squire's loud heavy bass, Jon Anderson's high tenor voice, Steve Howe's fast jazzy playing, and Rick Wakeman's angelic keyboard playing are only a few of the signature characteristics that define Yes. Although many prefer Close to The Edge, for what ever reason I prefer Fragile.

Genre: Progressive Rock

In-A-Gadda-Da-VidaUnited States Iron Butterfly
In A Gadda Da Vida is one of the finest examples of 60s psychedelic rock. The title track is glorious, but there are many other good songs that often go unnoticed on this album.

Genre: Psychedelic Rock, Acid Rock

KEY TRACK(S): In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Are You Happy?

FoxtrotUnited Kingdom Genesis
Foxtrot is one of the most essential albums in the progressive rock cannon. It is the first Genesis album that really attacked like a rock band. There is a vitality that remains throughout and the production improves immensely from the bands previous album. The highlights are the opening and closing tracks "Watcher of The Skies," and "Suppers Ready." The opening track opens with a melodramatic intro and kicks of the album with a lot of energy. The closing track that takes up an entire side of the album is one of the most rewarding pieces of music when taken the time to listen to.

Just listening to Selling England and thinking how I love that and Foxtrot (also SLOW BURN albums as you've put it), and I don't like Lamb that much... Hope that will change. Oh and did I mention how good this chart is?
