Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Goliath (2020)
This chart is a list of my favorite albums, not really a 'Greatest' album list. There are many groundbreaking/influential albums that would appear on a 'greatest' list, but I don't always like some of the truly original albums, others have built on them to produce in my opinion much better work. I have made no attempt to spread my choices across genres or decades or put a limit on the number of times an artist features, (if I did this many of the albums which should be on the list would be missing). Most of these albums are heavy, prog, rock, some pop, alternative and electronic. I'm not really into folk or rap.
For me music was at it's creative peak in the 70's (the birth of Heavy Metal, Punk, Disco, glam and Electronic), lost it's way slightly in the 80's then became interesting again in the 90's. There have been few albums I like after the year 2000, (though my favorite track of all time is from 2007).
This list took me a long time to compile and I am always tempted to move albums around as I re-listen to them, so as it will never be perfect, I might as well leave it as it is.
My favourite Artists:-
1. Black Sabbath.
2. Pink Floyd.
3. Led Zeppelin.
4. The Beatles.
6. David Bowie.
7. AC/DC (The Bon Scott years).
8. Kate Bush.
9. Judas Priest.
10. Iron Maiden.
My Favourite tracks of all time, top 12, (what would I do without the '70s!).

Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a mean average rating of 90.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 90.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.8.

Really good chart! You might repeat some of the same bands over and over but it's still good music so it is what it is.
Interesting and well compiled chart with excellent comments
Really good chart! I've heard a ton of these since I love classic rock and alternative. It's awesome how much you love Black Sabbath.
Great chart. Good to see so many bands I like plus Kate Bush.
16 in common
good to see "Sabotage" and "Making Movies" on another chart
Nice stuff!! Really like the way you've set out your bio
A great chart, good to see 'Colour of Spring' and 'Goodbye and Hello', I see that you have 'Joshua Tree' in there, you may like Silent Running, an almost forgotten band from the eighties, maybe give 'Shades of Liberty' a try. I know what you mean about placing albums in the charts and wanting to shift the positions around, I am forever moving mine.
Solid chart ! Brought a few forgotten jems back into my mind
27 in common says a lot. Great chart. I will check what i don't know yet.
