Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by LoganGrube

Thanks for visiting my chart.
If people want to give me a poor rating for including a lot of old highly rated albums here, go for it. I generally feel this site does a great job at listing some of the best albums ever, and I find I often agree with the rankings. This list exists as a reference for myself, and so I can have pointless, yet incredibly heated, arguments about music with my friends. I don't want to make it inauthentic by capping albums per decade or per artist.
Top Ten Best Songs of All Time:
1. Heroin - Velvet Underground and Nico
2. Here, There, and Everywhere - The Beatles (Paul Mccartney)
3. Runaway - Kanye West
4. Hey Mama - Kanye West
5. For No One - The Beatles (Paul McCartney)
6. Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles (Paul McCartney)
7. Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again - Bob Dylan
8. MAAD City - Kendrick Lamar
9. Candy Says - The Velvet Underground
10. New Slaves - Kanye West

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 5% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.9/100, a mean average of 86.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 16.4.

Very cool list. You have a lot more recent albums and a lot fewer from the 80s compared to my list. I wish I was as open-minded about hip-hop as you are.

Great chart with a fine selection of albums. I'm with you about 97% of the way. A few more expanded notes would be nice but good work man.

Nice chart!! I like how at least you're honest in your bio about your love of the classic rock era (not my digs but appreciate the picks you've made nonetheless). If I were to make any suggestions though it'd be to listen to some non-English speaking music. Here's a few that maybe you'll like from that era:

Novos Baianos - Acabou Chorare
Amon Duul II - Yeti
Osanna - Palepoli
Can - Ege Bamyasi

I don't know why you thought people would downvote you for the old albums you included. It's actually a pretty great selection of older albums. I pretty much like all of them but for a few.

I don't know why you thought people would give you a low rating because of the old albums you included. Actually, your selection of old albums is pretty great.

Really good chart, don't listen to the haters. You like what you like, don't worry about being "basic" but also don't think you're better than everybody

Good chart, maybe a bit too formulaic. Killer top 10 though, love it.
