The Cars

Produced by Roy Thomas Baker. This album may sound squeaky clean and spotless, but The Cars is a great debut album filled with great songs. The real secret weapon here is Elliot Easton with what are easily the greatest guitar licks of the New Wave era. Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr split the lead vocal duties, and Ocasek's songwriting is flawless. This is one of the top albums of New Wave, and a staggering debut effort. This album still sounds great today, and my collection would be naked without it. [First added to this chart: 04/11/2012]

A good choice for best album of 1978! Although the concert is Thanksgiving day in 1976.
